Our Story

The Viking Village is a nonprofit organization in Kindred, ND modeled after the Central Cass Treehouse in Casselton, ND.  Viking Village is ready to serve students in August, 2024 in time for the new school year.

Viking Village is a nonprofit organization that utilizes a unique collaboration between community volunteers and the school district to meet the basic needs of students at Kindred Schools.  Through a generous donation from the Hickson Lutheran Church in Hickson, ND this program is kickstarted and ready to serve our students immediately.

Created in 2024, the organization was created after a pilot program at the Norman Davenport Parish that helped provide shoes, clothing and winter gear to students in the district for a few years after prompting from a local community member.   Further discussion and shared resources from Heidi Domier at the Casselton Treehouse inspired the official model of Viking Village.  Thanks to Tara Olson, Leonard ND for creating our logo.

Viking Village will make hygiene items, food, athletic gear, shoes and clothing available to those who need them.

Our platform is entirely anonymous, allowing for a confidential and shame free experience for students.  Viking Village works with the school district to understand gaps, needs, and challenges while making products and services readily available for daily usage.  We engage the community through close partnership to create opportunities for support and alignment while still leveraging the confidentiality of the student and school.

Viking Village will empower our middle and high school students to communicate any need confidentially.  Students will have the ability to shop items through our online ordering platform enabling a convenient and confidential shopping experience with delivery to their locker during class time.

Viking Village is committed to support the basic needs of students physically, mentally and socially helping them reach their academic goals.

Viking Village is located upstairs in the old science rooms.  All teachers have full access to the room which includes shoes, boots, clothing, socks, underwear, snacks, jackets, snow pants, mittens + more.

Kindred Middle/High School

Viking Village is located in an empty classroom right across from the art room that all students and teachers have full access to during the school day and can make arrangements with Toshia or a teacher for after hours access.  The room contains clothing racks of concert dress clothes, viking wear, sweaters, shoes (athletic and dress), athletic shorts and shirts, sweatshirts, coats/hats/mittens, hygiene items, food + more
